CA Prop 50
Flip the Vote supports California’s Proposition 50
This summer, instead of striving to earn votes, Donald Trump pressured several states to draw new maps of US House districts in order to disenfranchise Democratic voters and maintain GOP control of the House. Texas has already complied, hoping to gain five GOP House seats. After careful deliberation, Flip the Vote’s Advisory Board announces our strong support for California’s Proposition 50, a justifiable response to the extreme Texas gerrymander.
California has asked the state’s voters to approve Prop 50, the Election Rigging Response Act, in a special election this November 4, 2025. Prop 50 would temporarily redraw congressional districts in California, aiming to counterbalance Texas’ partisan gerrymander by making five districts lean more Democratic. Wherever you live, you can support this initiative.

Why does Flip the Vote support Prop 50?
The California measure meets key fairness criteria; it is a temporary, pro-democratic response to partisan redistricting in other states which, crucially, requires voter approval. Supporting Prop 50 aligns with Flip the Vote’s priority of flipping the House in 2026 in order to provide a meaningful check on Trump's power.
